Historical walk at Austrått
The name Austrått probably means the farm to the east. The renaissance castle we can see today was build by the chancellor of the Danish-Norwegian kingdom, Ove Bjelke, and was inaugurated in 1656. By the way, the farm was already in the 11th century a farm of great men, and since then many of noble birth have been the owners at Austrått. Anyway, the person most people connect to this magnificent edifice will probably be Lady Inger of Austrått.
Austrått is a unique area where you during your vacation can learn about important events in the history of Norway and within a small area have great opportunities for recreation.
Sheep and pelt
In Norway it has for some years been focused on sheep as landscape gardeners. With us they are landscaping both the infield and the outlying field.
In May it is a lively life in the barn with newborn lambs bouncing around.
